The Minister can choose a department to keep an eye on the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. You can think of this department as a monitor that helps the Minister do their job, which is explained in section 22. The monitor's role is to assist the Minister and do certain tasks. The monitor can do things like manage money, oversee laws, and give advice to Ministers. They can also do other tasks that are part of this Act or other laws. The Minister can ask the monitor to do these tasks. The monitor is there to support the Minister and make sure the Reserve Bank of New Zealand is working well. You can find more information about this in other parts of the law. The monitor's tasks are important for the Reserve Bank of New Zealand to function properly.
