This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Illustration for Valuers Bill

You could commit an offence if you do not have an annual practising certificate and you use words or titles that make others think you are a registered public valuer. You would be doing this if you use certain words or titles in your business that make people believe you are a registered public valuer when you are not. This applies whether or not you are registered under the Act. You can still work as a valuer or use the word valuer in your job without an annual practising certificate. However, you must not use words or titles that make people think you are a registered public valuer if you do not have a certificate. This rule is to stop people from pretending to be something they are not. If you do not have an annual practising certificate, you cannot use certain words or titles that make people think you are a registered public valuer. You must be honest about your qualifications and not try to deceive others. This is an important rule to protect people who need valuers.
