This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

If you want to be registered, you must meet some requirements. You need to have a recognised certificate, which is explained in section 18, and have at least 3 years of practical experience in New Zealand in valuing land within the last 10 years. You can also meet the requirements by passing an approved exam and having at least 3 years of practical experience in New Zealand in valuing land within the last 10 years. If you got your certificate outside New Zealand, you must have at least 3 years of practical experience in valuing land within the last 10 years, with at least 1 year of that experience in New Zealand within the last 3 years. You must also pass an exam approved by the Board in New Zealand valuation law and be a member of an overseas valuers institute or association that has an agreement with the Board. When we talk about a "previous" period, we mean the time before you apply. You can find more information about what is required in section 16(d). The Board sets the rules for registration, so you must meet their requirements. The rules are in place to make sure you are qualified to be a valuer in New Zealand.
