This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Illustration for Valuers Bill

If you make a complaint about a registered valuer, the Board will look into it. The Board can then choose to do one or more of the following things: censure the valuer, order the valuer to pay a penalty of up to $10,000, or suspend the valuer's registration for up to 12 months. The Board's decision must be in writing and signed by the chairperson. If the valuer has already been convicted of an offence, the Board cannot impose a penalty for the same act. The Board has these powers in addition to its other powers under sections 35 to 40. The Board's decision is an important one, and it must follow the rules. The rules say that the Board's powers are in addition to its other powers. This means the Board has more ways to deal with complaints about registered valuers.
