Wildlife Act 1953

Protection of wildlife

7C: Farming certain unprotected animals

You could also call this:

"Raising certain animals that are not protected by law requires special permission"

If you want to farm, breed, or sell certain animals that are not protected, you need to check if they are listed in the Schedule 8 first. You are not allowed to farm, breed, or sell these animals unless the Minister says you can, or if there are regulations that let you. The Minister's permission can be found in section 41 or in regulations made under this Act.

If you do not follow this rule, you will commit an offence and might get a penalty, which is explained in section 67F(3). You will be liable for this penalty if you are convicted.

You must make sure you have the right permission before farming, breeding, or selling these animals to avoid getting in trouble.
