70V: Who may issue infringement notices

You could also call this:

"Who can give out infringement notices for breaking wildlife rules?"

The Director-General can authorise a ranger to issue infringement notices under the Wildlife Act 1953. You need to know that the Director of the New Zealand Fish and Game Council can also authorise a fish and game ranger to do this. The Director of the New Zealand Fish and Game Council must follow the national compliance and enforcement policy approved by the Minister under section 26HA of the Conservation Act 1987 when authorising a fish and game ranger.

The Director of the New Zealand Fish and Game Council cannot authorise an honorary fish and game ranger to issue infringement notices. An honorary fish and game ranger is a person appointed in an honorary capacity under section 26FA(2) of the Conservation Act 1987. The Director of the New Zealand Fish and Game Council also cannot delegate the power to authorise a fish and game ranger to issue infringement notices.

The Director of the New Zealand Fish and Game Council can only authorise a fish and game ranger if a national compliance and enforcement policy has been approved by the Minister. If no policy has been approved, the Director of the New Zealand Fish and Game Council cannot authorise a fish and game ranger to issue infringement notices.
