70R: Infringement offences relating to wildlife refuges

"Rules to protect wildlife in special refuges"

When you are in a wildlife refuge, you must not hunt or kill wildlife. You must not take or disturb their nests, eggs, or spawn. You are not allowed to have a firearm or an explosive with you.

You are also not allowed to have a dog or cat with you in the wildlife refuge. You must not do anything that makes wildlife leave the refuge. This rule does not apply if you have permission under section 5(2), section 14(2) or (2A), or an authority granted under section 53 or 54.

If you do not follow this rule, you commit an infringement offence.

Infringement offences

70RInfringement offences relating to wildlife refuges

  1. A person must not, while in a wildlife refuge,—

  2. hunt, kill, molest, capture, disturb, harry, or worry wildlife in the wildlife refuge; or
    1. take, destroy, or disturb the nests, eggs, or spawn of wildlife in the wildlife refuge; or
      1. possess a firearm or an explosive; or
        1. have in the person’s control any dog or cat; or
          1. do anything that causes any wildlife to leave the wildlife refuge.
            1. This section does not apply if the person’s action is authorised by—

            2. section 5(2); or
              1. section 14(2) or (2A); or
                1. an authority granted under section 53 or 54.
                  1. A person who fails to comply with this section commits an infringement offence.
