Wildlife Act 1953

Protection of wildlife - Management planning

14E: Conservation management plans

You could also call this:

"Plans to protect and care for special wildlife areas"

The purpose of a conservation management plan is to set goals for managing wildlife sanctuaries, refuges, or reserves. You can think of these plans like a roadmap to help protect and care for these special areas. The plan will help decide how to manage the area to keep the wildlife safe.

When making a conservation management plan, some rules from the Reserves Act 1977 and the Conservation Act 1987 will apply. For example, sections like section 17E, 17G, 17H, 17I, and 17N of the Conservation Act 1987 will be used to guide the plan.

If a plan is for a sanctuary, refuge, or reserve on private land, the Director-General can decide that some of these rules do not apply. Any management plans that were already approved will still be valid under this new section.
