Wildlife Act 1953

General provisions - Infringement offences

70K: Transporting wildlife without proper information on container

You could also call this:

"Label containers with wildlife correctly or you might break the law"

If you send a container with protected wildlife, you must follow the rules. You need to put a list and description of what is inside the container on the outside. You also need to include the name and address of the person sending and the person receiving the container.

If the container has absolutely protected wildlife, or parts of it, or eggs, you must mark it correctly. This includes writing the name and address of the sender and the receiver on the outside of the container. You must also list what is inside the container.

If you do not follow these rules, you will commit an infringement offence, as stated in the Wildlife Act 1953, which was updated by the Conservation (Infringement System) Act 2018.
