When you get a launch licence, it must say when it starts and when it ends. The end date must be within 5 years of the start date. You can find out more about what happens after 5 years in the related sections.

If you want your launch licence to keep going, it must be renewed in accordance with section 12. Your launch licence can also end early if it is revoked or suspended under section 14. This means your launch licence will stop being valid before the end date.
