When you read this Act, some words have special meanings. In this Act, an infringement fee is the amount of money you must pay for committing a certain offence, as stated in the Act. The amount is prescribed in the Act for the specific offence.

When you break a rule, you commit an offence, and if it is an infringement offence, it means you have broken a rule stated in section 77 or section 78. You will know it is an infringement offence because it is against one of these sections. This helps you understand what you did wrong.
