You are a member of a local board. Your local board must have between 5 and 12 members. The local board must have at least 5 members who are elected. It can also have members who are appointed, but only if an Order in Council under section 25 of the Local Government Act 2002 says so. 19EAMembership of local boards

  1. Every local board—

  2. must consist of not fewer than 5 members nor more than 12 members, including the chairperson; and
    1. must include at least 5 elected members; and
      1. may, if an Order in Council under section 25 of the Local Government Act 2002 so provides, include 1 or more appointed members.
        1. The maximum number of members appointed under subsection (1)(c) must be less than half the total number of members.

        2. The persons who are appointed under subsection (1)(c) as members of the local board must—

        3. be members of, and must be appointed by, the governing body for the district in which the local board area is situated; and
          1. be members of the governing body representing a ward that is wholly or predominantly within the local board area.
