143Conduct of elections and polls

1. Regulations made under section 139(1)(h) may include (without limitation)—

2. provisions—
   1. prescribing the method of conducting elections to fill extraordinary vacancies, and requiring any other class of election to be held using that method:
   2. varying the method of conducting polls prescribed in this Act if the poll is conducted under section 18 or section 19:
3. provisions regulating—
   1. the nomination of candidates:
   2. candidate profile statements:
   3. the issuing, handling, and processing of voting documents and other official documents:
   4. the management of official places:
   5. communication between voters and other persons:
   6. procedures for voting:
   7. the handling of spoilt voting documents:
   8. procedures after the close of voting:
   9. the scrutiny of the electoral roll:
   10. the conduct of the count:
   11. the declaration of the result of the election or poll:
4. provisions authorising or requiring electoral officers to publish, display, or distribute in the prescribed manner neutral information designed to assist voters to exercise an informed vote at polls conducted under this Act.

5. Without limiting the powers conferred by section 139(1)(h), different provision may be made for the matters referred to in subsection (1)(b) in respect of—

8. ordinary and special voting respectively:
9. elections and polls respectively:
10. different classes of elections and polls.
