You can find rules about how elections and polls are run in regulations made under section 139(1)(h). These regulations can say how elections to fill vacancies are held and how polls are conducted under section 18 or section 19. They can also cover things like nominating candidates and handling voting documents. You will see that these regulations can include provisions about the nomination of candidates, candidate profile statements, and voting procedures. They can also cover the management of official places, communication between voters, and procedures for voting. The regulations can say how to handle spoilt voting documents and what to do after voting closes. The regulations can also allow electoral officers to publish information to help voters make informed decisions. Different rules can be made for different electoral systems, voting methods, and types of elections and polls. This means that the rules can vary depending on the type of election or poll being held.
