Illustration for Local Electoral Act 2001

You will get another notice about the election or poll after nominations close. The electoral officer must give you this notice as soon as possible. This notice tells you about the election or poll and any others happening at the same time. You will see the date of the election or poll in this notice. It also tells you when the voting period starts and ends. The notice says what electoral system and voting method will be used. If it is an election, the notice says how many people will be elected and who the candidates are. The notice might also have other information to help you take part in the election or poll. The electoral officer can add other details they think will encourage you to participate. This notice might have information required by regulations made under the Local Electoral Act 2001, which you can find on the legislation website.
