Illustration for Local Electoral Act 2001

When the Commission makes a decision under section 19R(1)(b), you get a written notice with the reasons for the decision. The Commission sends this notice to the territorial authority or regional council, and also makes it public. You can see the notice and know what the Commission decided. The Commission sends a copy of the public notice to some important people, like the Surveyor-General and the Government Statistician. They also send it to the Remuneration Authority and the Secretary for Local Government. The Commission's decision is final, and it comes into effect at the next triennial general election, unless something in Part 2AA of the Local Government Act 1974 or Schedule 5 of the Local Government Act 2002 says otherwise. This decision stays in effect until the Commission makes a new decision.
