You can divide a district into smaller areas for voting purposes. Each of these areas must elect at least one member to the community board. If a community covers more than one whole ward, members can be elected by the voters in each ward. You elect community board members in different ways. If the community is not divided into smaller areas, members are elected by all the voters in the community. But if it is divided, or if members are elected by ward, each member must be elected by the voters in their area or ward. You can find more information by looking at the Local Electoral Amendment Act 2002. This law was changed on 25 December 2002, by section 6 of the Local Electoral Amendment Act 2002.
