Duties of electoral officers

15General duties of electoral officer

  1. An electoral officer is responsible for conducting every election or poll—

  2. falling within the description of the type of election or poll he or she was appointed to conduct; and
    1. to be held or taken within the local government area for which he or she was appointed to conduct elections and polls.
      1. An electoral officer is responsible, in accordance with the provisions of this Act and regulations made under this Act, for—

      2. the compilation and certification of electoral rolls:
        1. the publication of any public notice relating to elections and polls and the calling of nominations, required to be given:
          1. receiving nominations, candidate profile statements, and deposits required to be paid:
            1. issuing and receiving ordinary and special votes and other official documents:
              1. the processing and counting of votes:
                1. the declaration of results:
                  1. receiving returns of electoral donations and expenses:
                    1. investigating possible offences and reporting alleged offences to the Police.
                      1. The electoral officer has all the powers and duties conferred on the electoral officer by this Act or any other enactment.

                      2. Subsections (1) and (2) are subject to sections 16 to 19.
