When you buy a used motor vehicle from a trader, they must get you to sign a paper saying you got a copy of a notice. This notice is the one mentioned in section 14(1). The trader must get you to sign this paper before they sell you the vehicle, or soon after if it's an auction. The trader must keep a copy of the notice and your signature for at least 6 years. They must also show these papers to the Registrar or someone the Registrar chooses if they ask to see them, as per section 125. But the trader does not have to do this if they are selling the vehicle to another trader or a licensed car wrecker. The trader has to follow these rules when they sell you a used motor vehicle. You will sign a paper to say you got the notice, and the trader will keep a copy of it. This helps keep everything fair and honest when you buy a used motor vehicle.
