20Security and Reliability Council
The Authority must appoint a Security and Reliability Council.
The function of the Security and Reliability Council is to provide independent advice to the Authority on—
- the performance of the electricity system and the system operator; and
- reliability of supply issues.
The Council must meet at least once every 6 months.
The Council may determine its own procedure, subject to this Act and the charter (once made) prepared under section 19.
The Authority must ensure that the members of the Council have between them appropriate knowledge and experience of the electricity industry to provide advice to the Authority, but members need not be independent persons.
The Authority may not appoint a person as a member of the Council unless the Authority has first publicised an invitation for nominations for membership and considered any nominations received.
The terms of appointment as a member of the Council are as determined by the Authority on an individual basis.
