Electricity Industry Act 2010

Electricity industry governance - Electricity Industry Participation Code - Application of other Acts

44C: Interpretation

You could also call this:

“Explaining what important words mean in this part of the electricity law”

In sections 44D to 44F of this law, there are two important ideas you need to understand:

  1. Corporate separation: This means keeping different types of companies in the electricity industry separate from each other. If a rule in the Code talks about this or is related to this idea, we say it “relates to corporate separation”.

  2. Arm’s-length rules: These are rules that make sure companies act fairly and independently when they deal with each other. If a rule in the Code says someone must follow these arm’s-length rules, or if it’s connected to such a rule, we say it “relates to arm’s-length rules”.

These definitions help explain what we mean when we talk about these topics in the next few sections of the law.
