Electricity industry governance - Who does what - Rulings Panel

25: Function of Rulings Panel

You could also call this:

“The Rulings Panel helps solve problems and make decisions about electricity rules”

The Rulings Panel helps to make sure everyone follows the rules in the Electricity Industry Code. You can think of it as a special group that helps solve problems and make decisions about electricity in New Zealand.

Here’s what the Rulings Panel does:

They listen to complaints about people or companies who might have broken the rules in the Code. They also hear appeals when someone doesn’t agree with a decision made under the Code. If there are disagreements between different electricity companies about the Code, the Rulings Panel tries to solve these problems.

When they make decisions, the Rulings Panel can tell people or companies to fix things or follow certain orders. They also check if the Authority (the main electricity regulator) was right to stop electricity trading for any reason.

The Rulings Panel might have other jobs too, if the law or government rules say so. Their main job is to make sure everything in the electricity industry runs smoothly and fairly according to the rules.
