“Rules about fair dealing between electricity companies that are no longer part of the law”
The ‘Arm’s-length rules’ schedule in the Electricity Industry Act 2010 has been repealed. This means that all the rules and information that used to be in this part of the law are no longer in effect.
The schedule used to have five main parts: Objective, Interpretation, Arm’s-length rules, Rules do not limit objective, and These duties are additional to other duties. However, all of these parts were removed from the law on 1 September 2022.
The changes to remove these rules were made by the Electricity Industry Amendment Act 2022. This means that the rules about how electricity companies should deal with each other at ‘arm’s length’ (in a fair and independent way) are no longer part of this specific law.
