Electricity Industry Act 2010

Miscellaneous - Amendments to other enactments - Amendments to Commerce Act 1986

146: Interpretation

You could also call this:

“Explains what words mean and changes some definitions in another law”

This part of the law is about changing some definitions in another law called the Commerce Act 1986. It’s making two changes:

First, it’s adding a new definition. The new definition says that when you see the word “Authority” in the law, it means the Electricity Authority. This is a group that was set up by another law called the Electricity Industry Act 2010.

Second, it’s taking out the definition of “Electricity Commission”. This means that the law won’t use this term anymore.

These changes are made to a part of the Commerce Act 1986 called Section 2(1). This is the part of the law where they explain what different words mean.
