Electricity Industry Act 2010

Electricity industry governance - Monitoring and enforcement - Authority's powers and procedures

47B: Authority may impose conditions on provision of information or documents

You could also call this:

“Rules for sharing information with other groups to keep your details safe”

When the Authority gives information or documents to other organisations, they can set rules about how this is done. These organisations could be government agencies, other official groups, or regulators from other countries.

The Authority thinks about whether these rules are needed to keep people’s personal information safe. They try to protect your privacy when they share information.

The rules can cover different things. For example, they might say:

  • The information must be kept secret, especially if it’s about a person.
  • There are specific ways to store the information and control who can see it.
  • What to do with copies of the documents, like how to return or get rid of them.
  • The organisation might have to pay the Authority for the cost of providing the information.

The Authority can make these rules whether someone has asked for the information or if they’re giving it out for another reason.
