Electricity Industry Act 2010

Electricity industry governance - Registration

27: Register of industry participants

You could also call this:

“The Authority keeps a list of electricity industry people and companies”

The Authority must keep and share a list of people and companies involved in the electricity industry. This list is called a register.

The register needs to include:

  • The name, how to contact, and what kind of business each participant does, unless they don’t have to be on the list.
  • The day when each participant was first added to the list.
  • Any changes made to a participant’s information, including when and what changed.
  • The names of people who were on the list but aren’t anymore, after this rule started.

When we talk about contact details, we mean where the participant is located, their mailing address, phone number, fax number, and email address.

Business details mean what kind of work the participant does in the electricity industry. For example, they might make electricity, move it around the country, deliver it to homes and businesses, sell it, or do more than one of these things.

The Authority can choose whether to include participants who don’t have to be on the list, but they don’t have to.
