Electricity Industry Act 2010

Separation of distribution from certain generation - Enforcement and general provisions - Enforcement and penalties for this Part

“You might have to pay if you break a rule and someone loses something”

If you break a rule in this part of the law, you might have to pay money to anyone who loses something because of what you did. This is called being “liable in damages”. It means that if someone suffers a loss or gets hurt because you didn’t follow the rules, you might have to pay them to make up for it.
