Illustration for Offshore Renewable Energy Bill

When the Minister is deciding on a date for decommissioning, they have to think about some things. You need to know the Minister will consider the size of the offshore renewable energy development that needs to be decommissioned. They will also think about how complicated the decommissioning process will be and look at any plans that have already been accepted.

The Minister will consider any approvals that have been given for decommissioning and when the energy generation from the development is expected to stop. They will also think about how long it will take to meet any other requirements before decommissioning can start or finish.

The Minister can consider any other matters they think are relevant when deciding on a date for decommissioning, as outlined in section 74, which is part of the decision-making process.
