This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Offshore Renewable Energy Bill

104: Power to require information

You could also call this:

"The government can ask you for information about offshore renewable energy and you must provide it"

Illustration for Offshore Renewable Energy Bill

The Minister or an enforcement officer can ask you to provide information in writing. You will have to give them the information they need to do their job under this proposed law. They might need information about how a permit is being used or about commercial agreements related to offshore renewable energy.

If you are asked to provide information, you can ask for it to be kept confidential. The Minister or enforcement officer will have to agree to this in writing. You will have to provide the information in the way they ask for it and within a reasonable time frame.

You will not be able to charge for providing the information, and you will have to give it to them even if they agree to keep it confidential. The information you provide can be about things like permits, commercial agreements, or offshore renewable energy transmission infrastructure activities.
