This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Offshore Renewable Energy Bill

Administration and enforcement - Enforcement - Offences

147: Offence for failing to notify Minister of change in significant influence over permit holder

You could also call this:

"Telling the Minister about changes in control of a permit holder is required by law."

If you do not tell the Minister about a change in who has a lot of influence over a permit holder, you might commit an offence. This is because you would be going against what is proposed in section 50, which says you must notify the Minister of these changes. You could be fined up to $200,000 if you are found guilty of this offence. If you are being prosecuted for this offence, you can defend yourself by proving you did not know about the change in influence and could not have reasonably been expected to know.
