129Form and content of compliance notices
A compliance notice must be in writing.
A compliance notice must state—
- that an enforcement officer believes, on reasonable grounds, that the person—
- is contravening a provision of this Act or the regulations or a condition of a permit; or
- is likely to contravene a provision of this Act or the regulations or a condition of a permit; and
- is contravening a provision of this Act or the regulations or a condition of a permit; or
- the provision or condition the enforcement officer believes, on reasonable grounds, is being, or is likely to be, contravened; and
- briefly, how the provision or condition is being, or is likely to be, contravened; and
- a period within which the person is required to remedy—
- the contravention or likely contravention; or
- the things or activities causing the contravention or likely to cause a contravention.

A compliance notice may include recommendations concerning—
- the measures that could be taken to remedy the contravention, or prevent the likely contravention, to which the notice relates; and
- the things or activities causing the contravention, or likely to cause a contravention, to which the notice relates.
A compliance notice may be addressed to any person under the person’s legal name or usual business name.
