This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Offshore Renewable Energy Bill

Regime for offshore renewable energy permits and infrastructure protection - Protection of infrastructure

68: Minister may vary or cancel safety zone notice

You could also call this:

"The Minister can change or cancel a warning sign for a safe area at any time."

Illustration for Offshore Renewable Energy Bill

The Minister can change or cancel a safety zone notice at any time. You can think of a safety zone notice like a warning sign that tells people to stay away from a certain area. The Minister can do this on their own or because someone asked them to, like the person who has a permit to work in that area or the person who built something there.

If someone wants to change or cancel a safety zone notice, the same rules that apply to creating a notice will also apply to changing or cancelling it, as outlined in sections 63 to 67.

However, if the permit holder or the person who built something in the safety zone wants the notice cancelled, they do not have to talk to people who might be affected by the cancellation before asking the Minister to cancel it, which is something they would normally have to do under section 64.
