This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

113: Chief executive to maintain register of permits

"Chief Executive Keeps a Public List of Offshore Energy Permits"

Illustration for Offshore Renewable Energy Bill

The proposed law says the chief executive must keep a record of all permits. You can think of this record as a big list that includes important details about each permit, such as the name and contact details of the person or company that holds the permit. The list must also have a copy of the permit and a record of any changes made to the permit.

The chief executive might add other information to the record if they think it is useful. The proposed law says the chief executive must make the information on the record available to the public, unless the information is private or sensitive. This means you would be able to see the information on the record, unless it is about something that is not allowed to be shared under the Privacy Act 2020.

If the chief executive finds out that something on the record is incorrect or has changed, they must update the record. This ensures the information on the record is always accurate and up to date. The chief executive has a responsibility to keep the record correct and make it available to the public.
