If the Family Court makes certain orders under the Family Proceedings Act 1980, you need to know what happens next. The Court must tell the Registrar-General about the order as soon as possible. The Court can tell the Registrar-General by giving them a certificate or by sending the information electronically. When the Family Court makes an order to dissolve a marriage or civil union, you should understand that the Court has to notify the Registrar-General. The Registrar-General is told about the order so they can update their records. This helps keep track of marriages and civil unions in New Zealand. The Family Court can send the information to the Registrar-General in two ways: by certificate or electronically. The Registrar-General uses this information to keep accurate records. This is an important part of managing marriages and civil unions in New Zealand.
