You can ask to change a child's name within 2 years of their birth if you are their guardian. You can ask the Registrar-General to delete, amend, or replace a name in the child's birth record. You can also ask to add a name to the child's birth record. You must make this request within 2 years of the child's birth. If the request is made under a Family Court order, you must follow the conditions of that order. You can usually only make one request to change a child's name, unless there are special reasons to make more than one request. You can look at s 20 for more information.
