You can ask for a name change to be added to your marriage or civil union record. This can happen if you get married or enter a civil union and then change your name. You need to have your name change registered in your birth record or name change record first. You can make this request to the Registrar-General if your name has changed. If you have died, the other person in the marriage or civil union can make the request. You can make the request at the same time as you apply to change your name, or you can do it separately. You will need to pay a fee if one is required when you make the request. You can find more information by looking at the relevant laws. The laws about name changes are important to follow when you get married or enter a civil union.
