You can register a birth that happens outside New Zealand with the Registrar-General. This can happen if the birth is notified under section 14 or 15, or in accordance with section 32(2). The Registrar-General follows these rules to register the birth. You need to know that if the registered birth is a stillbirth, it must be clearly marked as a stillbirth in the birth record. The Registrar-General must do this when registering the birth under subsection (1). This helps keep accurate records of births in New Zealand. The Registrar-General has specific rules to follow when registering births that occur outside New Zealand. These rules help ensure that all births are recorded correctly. You can find more information about registering births in the relevant sections of the Act.
