45When death that occurs outside New Zealand may be notified

  1. Any person may, at any time, notify the Registrar-General of a death that occurs outside New Zealand if—

  2. the death occurred on a New Zealand aircraft or New Zealand ship; or
    1. the deceased person was ordinarily resident in New Zealand and the death occurred in a place where—
      1. there was no system for recording information relating to deaths; or
        1. the system for recording information relating to deaths did not apply to the person.
