59Registrar-General to note change of form of relationship

  1. If the Registrar-General is informed that the parties to a marriage or civil union have, under section 18 of the Civil Union Act 2004, changed the form of their relationship, the Registrar-General must—

  2. register, in the record relating to the earlier marriage or civil union, an indication that the form of relationship has been changed and when and where the change occurred; and
    1. register, in the record relating to the later marriage or civil union, that, on the date and at the place in which the solemnisation of the later marriage or civil union took place, the parties changed their earlier marriage or civil union into a marriage or civil union; and
      1. ensure that a link is created between the record relating to the earlier marriage or civil union and the record relating to the later marriage or civil union.
