Real Estate Agents Act 2008

Interpretation and application

6: Persons may not carry out real estate agency work unless licensed or exempt

You could also call this:

"You must be licensed or exempt to do real estate work."

Illustration for Real Estate Agents Act 2008

You cannot do real estate agency work unless you are licensed or exempt. You must be licensed under the Real Estate Agents Act 2008 to do this work, and you must stay within what your licence allows. You can also be exempt from needing a licence under sections 7 to 9 or another law. You cannot tell people you are ready to do agency work if you are not licensed or exempt. It does not matter if you do agency work on its own or as part of another business. You still need to follow the rules about being licensed or exempt. If you want to know more about being exempt, you can look at sections 7 to 9.
