Illustration for Real Estate Agents Act 2008

The Minister can change practice rules if they think they are not good enough. The Minister can only make changes to things that practice rules are allowed to cover. The Minister must talk to the Authority before making any changes. The Minister can also talk to real estate agents, branch managers, and salespersons about the changes. They can talk to other people or groups if they think it is a good idea. If the Minister makes changes to the rules, they must follow the rules for publishing secondary legislation, which you can find in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019. You can think of secondary legislation like a set of rules that help explain how a law works. The Minister's changes to the practice rules are a type of secondary legislation. This means they have to be published in a certain way, so everyone knows about them.
