The Real Estate Agents Disciplinary Tribunal is a group that deals with issues related to real estate agents. You can think of it like a committee that helps make decisions about real estate agents who may have done something wrong. The Tribunal has a chairperson who is a lawyer with at least 7 years of experience, and at least 3 other members, including at least one real estate agent. The Minister chooses the members of the Tribunal. When choosing a real estate agent to be on the Tribunal for the first time, the Minister must talk to the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand. The Minister also chooses one of the members to be the deputy chairperson. The Tribunal is made up of a chairperson and other members who are chosen by the Minister. You can find more information about the changes to the Tribunal in the Tribunals Powers and Procedures Legislation Act 2018. The Minister's choices are important for the Tribunal to work properly.
