The Authority can impose a fee, called an operational levy, on every real estate agent. You will have to pay this fee to help cover the costs of the Authority and the Registrar doing their jobs. The Authority can also use this fee to pay for investigations and proceedings of a Complaints Assessment Committee. The Authority can decide how much each real estate agent has to pay, and they can charge different amounts to different types of agents. They can also choose to exempt some agents from paying the fee, or give them a refund. You can find more information about how the Authority publishes these notices in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019. The Authority will let you know how much you have to pay and when you have to pay it. They will do this by giving you a notice that explains everything. This notice is a type of law called secondary legislation.
