When you want a radio licence, the Secretary can give you one. You can use this licence to send radio waves in New Zealand or from a New Zealand ship. The Secretary follows rules to decide who gets a licence. You can also get a licence to send radio waves from an aircraft registered in New Zealand. The licence will say what frequencies you can use and where you can send the radio waves. The Secretary decides what the licence looks like and how long it lasts. The licence will have conditions that you must follow, like complying with the rules in Schedule 1. The Secretary can also add other conditions to the licence. You must follow all the conditions to keep your licence. The Secretary can give you a licence to protect your radio waves from interference. This means you can send and receive radio waves without other signals getting in the way. The licence will help you use your radio safely and correctly.
