You have to attend an annual general meeting for your society. This meeting must happen within 6 months of the society's balance date. It also must happen within 15 months of the last annual general meeting. You do not have to have your first meeting in the same year your society is incorporated. But you must have it within 18 months of incorporation. Your society must hold the meeting as planned and follow its rules. It must also keep a record of what happens at the meeting. Some societies can have special rules about who can attend these meetings. This can include only allowing certain people to attend, like delegates or representatives.

84Annual general meetings

  1. Every society must call an annual general meeting of members to be held—

  2. not later than 6 months after the balance date of the society; and
    1. not later than 15 months after the previous annual general meeting.
      1. However, a society does not have to hold its first annual general meeting in the calendar year of its incorporation but must hold that meeting within 18 months after its incorporation.

      2. The society must—

      3. hold the meeting on the date on which it is called to be held and in accordance with its constitution; and
        1. ensure that minutes of the meeting are kept.
          1. If a society is a union or is of a kind prescribed by the regulations, the society’s constitution may provide that a right to attend an annual general meeting applies only to delegates or other representatives of members (rather than to all members).
