A register of incorporated societies is set up. You can think of it as a list of all the incorporated societies in New Zealand. The register must be electronic, which means it is stored on computers. The register is available all the time, except when the Registrar decides to suspend it, or if regulations say otherwise. The Registrar can suspend the register if they think it is not practical to let people access it. You can find more information about this by looking at the Incorporated Societies Act 1986. The Registrar has control over the register and can decide who can access it and when. This helps keep the register running smoothly and ensures people can access the information they need. The register is an important tool for keeping track of incorporated societies in New Zealand.
