If you change a society's name, it takes effect from the date on the certificate issued under section 117 or 119. This change does not affect the society's rights or obligations. You can still take legal action against the society using its new name. If a society's name changes, you must use the new name when looking at its constitution for the purposes of section 26(1)(a). This is important for understanding the society's rules. You can use the new name in legal proceedings.
