You can be charged fees when the Registrar does things for you under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022. The Governor-General can decide what these fees are by making regulations. You have to pay these fees before the Registrar will do certain things for you. You might also have to pay a penalty if you do not give the Registrar a document on time. The Registrar can refuse to help you until you pay the fee or penalty. The Registrar can give you your money back or not charge you a fee in some cases. If you do not pay a fee, the Registrar can take you to court to get the money. The rules about fees are made by the Governor-General and are called secondary legislation, see Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019 for more information about this. You can find out more about how these rules are published by looking at this legislation.
