Illustration for Incorporated Societies Act 2022

When the Registrar gets the information from section 197, they must do a few things. They issue a certificate of amalgamation and make changes to the registration if needed. If the new society is one of the old ones, the Registrar updates its registration, like adding its new constitution. If the new society is completely new, the Registrar follows the rules in section 15(1)(a) to (c). If the amalgamation proposal has a specific date for the amalgamation to happen, the Registrar makes sure the certificate of amalgamation takes effect on that date, as long as it is the same as or later than the date they got the information.
