You are a victim of a crime and the person who committed the crime might be deported. The Minister of Immigration is thinking about cancelling or suspending the deportation. You are entitled to get a notice about this, as stated in section 39 of the Victims’ Rights Act 2002, if the offender is liable for deportation under the Immigration Act 2009. You will get this notice if the offender appeals against their deportation to the Immigration and Protection Tribunal. Some parts of section 39 of the Victims’ Rights Act 2002 apply to you, but with some changes. These changes include replacing some references with the Director, and making any other necessary changes.
