Illustration for Armed Forces Discipline Act 1971

You need a quorum to hold a meeting of the Discipline Committee. A quorum is half the number of members. It must include the Chief of Defence Force and the Judge Advocate General. You cannot discuss or decide anything at a meeting without a quorum. This rule is part of the Armed Forces Discipline Act 1971. It was updated by the Armed Forces Discipline Amendment Act (No 2) 2007, which you can find on the https://legislation.govt.nz/act/public/1986/0120/latest/link.aspx?id=DLM1034268. The quorum rule is important for the Discipline Committee meetings. You must have the right people at the meeting to make decisions. This helps ensure the meetings are fair and follow the rules.
